A few weeks ago, an expert inspection by the BFSA proved that some vinegar producers cheat us by offering us synthetic and dangerous acid. It is already clear who these companies are.

Fake vinegar on the market was sold by ECO LIFE 09 from Yambol, NEG-GROUP from Burgas, EDI GROUP from Varna, RA-Pidakev from Malo Konare, Maryland-2013 OOD from Perushtitsa and Miracle Krasi Maker from Pazardzhik.

The Yambol company offered vinegar under the brand name Vinegar Cupid, in which the acid E260, the colorant E163 and the preservative sulfur dioxide E220 were found.

Under the Maryland-2013 brand, the product offered was sold as vinegar, but was essentially a concentrate of the synthetic acid E260. The same fraud was revealed in the vinegar produced in Malo Konare.

Synthetic acid instead of vinegar was also offered by Amber Vinegar of the Burgas company NEG-Group. The Varna company EDI GROUP also pushed fake vinegar, and during the inspections in the workshop serious violations of the hygienic norms were registered.

Misleading information on the label of vinegar, which is synthetic, has been established at the Maryland-2013 Ltd. trading company.

Expert inspections also found Kondrion vinegar, which also contained the presence of the synthetic acid E260. Apple cider vinegar is produced in the Petrich village of Dolno Spanchevo.

The mass fraud was revealed exactly in the season when traditionally Bulgarians put pickles and accordingly buy large quantities of vinegar. But instead of vinegar, consumers have been pushed synthetic acid.

The Law on Wine and Spirits does not prohibit the sale of such acid, but on its label it is mandatory to indicate as a sour spice or acidic product, and not as natural wine vinegar.

The registered synthetic acid E260, which is found in most brands of counterfeit vinegar, is produced from petroleum sources or by carbonation of methanol.

In addition to spoiling the winter food and home canned food in record time, it is also dangerous for the body in large quantities and can cause burns to the mucous membranes and esophagus.
