The National Revenue Agency stopped the import of 64 tons of frozen pork and beef, which was to be sold on our markets. The meat came from Romania and was transported in three trucks.
When checking the border, the drivers provided documents to the inspectors for transporting the dough, but upon inspection of the goods it was found that the meat was frozen.
The drivers were two Poles and a Bulgarian. Acts were drawn up for them, the trucks were sealed and the goods were seized. The case was notified to the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency.
The interdepartmental coordination center for counteracting smuggling and control of the movement of risky goods and cargo of the CDCOC in cooperation with the bodies of the Ministry of Interior have also joined the investigation, BGNES reports.
Since the beginning of the year, the NRA has managed to track the movement of 200 million kilograms of meat and 1 billion market goods, including fruits, vegetables, sugar, flour, milk and dairy products.
Meanwhile, the Food Control Department at the Regional Directorate for Food Safety in Pazardzhik has carried out 619 inspections in the district in connection with the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays, reports FOCUS News Agency.
As a result of the inspections, 4,890 eggs, 526 kilograms of duck lanterns, 60 kilograms of pig ears and 13 kilograms of pig hearts were discarded and destroyed. Most of the goods were destroyed because they did not have documents of origin.
The offenders were issued acts for administrative violation. Among the shortcomings identified by inspectors were poor workplace hygiene and a lack of work clothes for employees.
