Lots of eggs with the numbers 2BG08001, 3BG08001 will be withdrawn from the domestic market because they are infected with bird flue. The quantity is nearly 1 million, and the eggs come from a farm in the Dobrich village of Donchevo.
It is assumed that this is the source of the disease, as there were sick animals in the villages of Stefanovo and General Toshevo. Experts from the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency at the same time reassure that there is no danger to humans.
In Donchevo is the second case in which the strain was found. For this reason, it is from this farm that the withdrawal of the problematic eggs begins, and in order to limit the infection, all the hens will be killed.
The poultry farm in the village is the largest producer of eggs in the country and also a large exporter. It produces about 140 million eggs a year. The farm employs about 400 people. 100 of them work in the village.
Experts are adamant that the H5N8 strain is not dangerous to human health when eating meat or eggs. But both eggs and birds must be killed so that the infection does not spread.
The eggs are planned all over the country, but the warehouses and shops have already been notified and will hand over the eggs to the Food Agency.
