The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) has ordered a mass withdrawal of eggs from the commercial network, as there are suspicions that they may be infected with Salmonella Enteritidis.

The potentially dangerous hen's eggs are imported from Poland, the BFSA added in its official press release.

The emergency measure was recommended by the Rapid Alert System for Dangerous Foods and Feeds (RASFF) for hens' eggs originating in Poland and distributed on the European Union market.

The study is categorical that a batch of infected eggs have reached the Bulgarian markets.

The Food Agency urges you to carefully examine the label on the packaging of eggs before you buy them.

If you notice 3PL30221304 and 3PL30221321 stamps on them, do not consume them. If you have already bought the eggs, return them to the store.

The packing center, which is PL 30225901 WE, must also be marked on the packaging of the eggs. It is from him that the infected eggs are spread.

It is possible that there are already eggs consumed, as there are some quantities that have reached the store network. That is why we immediately informed the users to watch their numbers, explains Dr. Raina Ivanova from the BFSA to Nova TV.

The expert urged customers not to panic, as no official cases of salmonella infection have been registered in Bulgaria yet. But we have been given an official warning, so we need to be more careful when shopping.

The symptoms of salmonella are fever, vomiting and upset. At diagnosis, the mandatory incubation period lasts between 2 and 6 hours.
