Chocolate is a favorite sweet temptation for many people. When starting a diet, we usually have to give up sweets, including chocolate.
This task turns out to be quite difficult and sometimes even impossible. So many choices of different chocolate delicacies, and you have to go around them and not be able to eat.
But where in the world do people eat chocolate the most? Not surprisingly, this is a country where statistics show that about 12 kilograms of delicious chocolate per capita.
We are talking about Switzerland, of course - the country that can be noted as the place with the most lovers of delicious chocolate. In fact, the very mention of Switzerland leaves us with the feeling of a piece of chocolate melting in your mouth, so the fact that it tops the rankings is hardly a surprise.
No matter how much we fall in love with the chocolate temptations in our country, Bulgaria does not enter the ranking of the countries that consume the most chocolate. In the top 10 are Ireland with an impressive 9.9 kilograms per capita, followed by England - with 9.5 kg.
Further in the ranking are Austria, Belgium and Germany, respectively, with 8.8 kg, 8.3 kg, 8.2 kg per capita. In Norway, they eat a modest 8 kg, and last in the top ten are the French with 6.3 kg. They are followed by Denmark with 7.5 kg and Canada with 6.4 kg per capita.
The United States is in 15th place, according to data from Confectionerynews.com.
The majority of those in the Top 20 most chocolate-eating countries boast high incomes and a higher middle class than the rest of the developing countries.
The interesting thing here is that in addition to chocolate-loving countries, there are also those in which it is simply of no interest to people. In China, they are obviously much more accustomed to salty foods and prefer them to sweet temptations, whatever they may be.
According to the study, the average Chinese person eats a modest 100 grams of chocolate a year. The fastest growing chocolate market in the world is India, with sales doubling in three years (between 2008 and 2011).
