Green tea is a popular drink known for its health benefits. The drink reduces the risk of heart disease, fights chronic inflammation, helps fight excess weight, reduces the risk of developing some cancers, is also full of antioxidants and contains virtually no calories. Just like the black- and green tea contains a certain amount of caffeinewhich may be troubling to some people.

Caffeine is actually a natural ingredient found in the leaves or grains of over 60 plants, including the leaves of the tea tree (from which tea is made). It is a type of stimulant for our central nervous system that fights fatigue and makes us more concentrated. It has been proven to have many benefits for our health. However, some people are sensitive to it and prefer to avoid it.

A cup of green tea (about 250 ml) contains about 35 mg caffeine. However, the quantities vary - according to the time of fermentation of the tea leaves, as well as according to the type of plant. Older leaves, for example, have less caffeine. Usually more caffeine is contained in tea bags, and that of the leaves is weaker. Boiling is also important: the longer you brew your drink, the stronger it will be.

It is important to know that the caffeine in green tea in fact, it is not much at all.

A cup of instant coffee, for example, contains between 30 and 180 mg of caffeine;

A cup of espresso - between 240 and 720

- Black tea - between 25 and 110;

energy drinks - between 72 and 80 g (all quantities are for 250 ml).

These values probably don't matter to you. To put them in context, you need to know that the safe daily dose for adults is about 400 mg of caffeine per day, or 6 mg per kilogram of body weight.

It is recommended that this amount be divided into 2 times 200 mg or in smaller doses. However, 200 mg of caffeine is more than 4 cups of green tea. This means that compared to others caffeinated beverages green tea has the lowest content.
