Cheaper fruits and vegetables, which are imported from abroad, are very dangerous for consumption, warned the chairman of the National Union of Gardeners in Bulgaria Slavi Trifonov.

According to the farmer, imported fruits and vegetables are full of dangerous substances that are much more harmful than E, which we are constantly informed to watch out for.

Slavi Trifonov told the Standard newspaper that the branch organizations of fruit growers, greenhouse producers and vegetable growers abroad process their products with chemicals in order to last longer.

According to the National Union of Gardeners in Bulgaria, nearly 90% of fruits and vegetables in domestic markets are imported, and it is very difficult to find domestic production, although traders try to sell imported as Bulgarian.

Most of the fruits and vegetables move in the gray sector, which is why they are not checked when they enter the country. The substances they are treated with are very dangerous to health.

"That is why Bulgarians have forgotten the taste of fresh vegetables and fruits, which were picked yesterday," commented Slavi Trifonov.

According to him, there is a difference between fresh and fresh vegetables and it is important for people's health to consume fresh fruits and vegetables.

"After picking the fruit or vegetable, various processes begin to take place in it, which reduce its useful properties, not to mention the additional treatment with preparations for longer resistance. By the time they reach the shops, the fruits and vegetables from abroad have already stayed 15 -20 days "- the expert told Standard.

The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency commented that during the inspections they found only vegetables treated with paraffin, but it washes off after the vegetables are washed.

Dyes are used in tangerines and oranges for commercial purposes, because, even if ripe, part of their court remains green, added the BFSA.

However, a producer of organic fruits states that if Bulgarians knew exactly what is in imported fruits and vegetables, they would never touch them.
