Mussels are an ideal option if you want to prepare something quick and easy for dinner. They are suitable even for welcoming guests, as long as you are sure that they love seafood delicacies.
Many are tired of being greeted with traditional steaks, meatballs and kebabs served with a garnish of potatoes.
At the same time, mussels, especially if cleaned well, can be consumed even natural, sprinkled with a little salt, and the time for their preparation takes only a few minutes. Here's what you need to know in this regard:
1. When choosing mussels, always make sure they are tightly closed, which to some extent ensures that they are fresh. Once the mussels are purchased from the store, they should be immediately placed in cold water, cleaned of algae and the growth that you will see coming from them removed.
This is done with a sharp movement of the hand. Then wash them again with some water. So you can now switch to their heat treatment.
2. The easiest way to make mussels is to put them in a large enough container with a little salted water (no more than 2-3 fingers) and boil them.
They are ready the moment they open. The water is drained and the mussels are served in a bowl. You can season them with a little fresh dill, pepper and lemon juice.
3. If you have exactly 2 minutes more time and the corresponding products, you can stew the mussels in white wine and season them with garlic and butter. This is done by placing white wine at the bottom of the vessel instead of water, to which you have also added salt.
Once the mussels are open, add a few finely chopped garlic cloves, butter, finely chopped dill and, if necessary, more salt. Shake the pan well without removing the lid until the oil has melted. Serve the mussels with lemon slices.
4. If you do not have white wine, butter and fresh dill, you can easily replace them with beer, olive oil and fresh parsley, respectively. Fresh oregano and basil are also suitable as spices.
5. Mussels, drizzled with red sauce made from grated tomatoes, finely chopped onions and garlic, which are stewed in olive oil and to which spices are added if desired, also become very tasty. Once the mussels are opened, the sauce is poured over them and they are ready to serve.
