The longest pizza in the world was served in Italy. Local chefs broke the world record by serving pizza Margarita, more than a kilometer long, during the World's Fair in Milan, where one of the main topics was food.
Fans of the traditional Italian dish hope that this record will contribute to the successful application of pizza for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Lorenzo Veltri, a Guinness World Record holder, officially recognized the first place of the Italians with an incredibly tasty pizza, 1595 m long and 45 cm long.
Eighty virtuosos in the kitchen used five different ovens to bake the giant Margarita evenly. The pasta was served on 800 tables, and nearly 30,000 guests of the event could try it.
Thanks to its impressive size, the giant Margarita managed to break the record for the longest pizza in the world, which surpassed the previous record set by Spain. Three hundred meters of the culinary masterpiece were donated to the Food Bank in Milan.
Margarita is not just a traditional Italian pizza, but one of the most popular and loved dishes in the world. The iconic pasta, containing mozzarella, tomatoes and basil, was created in June 1889 in Naples by Pizzeria chef Brandi Rafaele Esposito in honor of Queen Marguerite of Savoy.
At that time, Neapolitan pizza was accepted only as food for the poor. But suddenly the wife of Italian King Umberto I wanted to try exactly this pasta.
That is why Raphael Esposito arrived in the rooms of the rulers, who offered the queen three pizzas: two traditional and one, which he had made on the occasion of his visit to the royal persons.
The colors of the products he had chosen corresponded to the colors of the Italian flag. According to legend, this pizza was most liked by Queen Margarita and later in her honor Esposito named his culinary work after her.
