Pizzerias from 5 continents will gather this Sunday, May 15, in Naples to prepare the longest pizza in the world - 2 kilometers. The record culinary temptation will apply for the Guinness Book.
The motto of the event is the Union makes pizza and to prepare the record 2-kilometer pizza on the promenade in Lungomare in Naples, thousands of pizzerias will gather.
Pizza is one of the favorite dishes of people from 5 continents, and each of the continents has its own representative among the chefs who will replace the pizza record holder.
The organizers of the event say that food is the safest way to unite people from different parts of the world and want to show how it takes only 2 kilometers of pizza to unite people from 5 continents.
Pizza cooking starts this Sunday at 10 am and is expected to last at least 20 hours. The 2 km long pizza will stretch between Piazza della Repubblica and Castel del Ovo.
2 tons of flour, 2 tons of mozzarella, 1500 kilograms of tomato sauce, 200 liters of olive oil and 30 kilograms of fresh basil will be used for kneading.
When baking the traditional Italian dish, 5 mobile ovens will be used, in which the individual parts of the pizza, about one meter long, will be baked.
After the culinary show, all spectators will be able to eat a slice of the record pizza. Music and dancing are organized for those present to entertain them before eating.
Last June, pizzas from the Italian town of Rende made a 1.2km pizza, but just a week later their record fell because their colleagues from Milan made a 1.5km pizza, which still holds the record for the longest pizza in the world.
