On March 27, the Catholic world celebrated Easter, and on this occasion, enthusiastic chefs from southwestern France decided to break the world record by making the largest omelet of 15,000 eggs.

The culinary achievement involved 12 chefs from the Besiere fraternity. There was an audience of just over 10,000 people preparing the omelette.

The 43-year tradition of making the largest omelet in the world takes place after each Easter according to the Catholic calendar. Legend has it that the ritual began after Napoleon ordered an omelette from Besiere's chefs.

Because he came with an entire army, he insisted that eggs be mixed not only for him, but for all the soldiers. After managing to make a huge omelette in such a short time, French chefs began making it every year.

The chefs' last omelette was mixed with huge spatulas, and the ingredients were mixed in a large stainless steel pan. The fire was traditionally lit in the center of the city, and after the omelet was ready, everyone present ate it along with a free slice of bread.

It is rare for Easter in the Orthodox calendar to coincide with Easter in the Catholic calendar. This year they also parted ways, but although on different dates the holiday will be celebrated by both Christian worlds.

France is one of the countries that celebrates the Resurrection of Christ every year with lavish and interesting celebrations. According to their traditions, every Easter the trees are decorated with Easter eggs, just as we decorate a Christmas tree.

Chocolate eggs and chocolate rabbits - the two symbols of the Easter holidays - are sold and given away all over the country. The evening before Easter, the children build nests in their homes, and in the morning they are full of eggs.
