Milk substitutes are foods that are most commonly used in people with lactose intolerance. These are usually soy-based products, which are very good sources of high quality vegetable proteins, unsaturated fats and others.

Lactose intolerance can be expressed in gastrointestinal discomfort, diarrhea and others. Taking milk substitutes improves the condition of patients and relieves complaints.

Milk substitutes are drinks of plant origin, which resemble animal milk in texture and color, as well as in composition. They are most often made from soy, rice, oats, almonds, hazelnuts, cashews, coconut.

There are two ways to get such milk substitutes: make them at home or buy ready-made from the store. There are an awful lot of recipes for homemade plant-based milks.

What you need is the raw material (soy, nuts, rice, coconut, etc.), water, some sweetener (sugar, honey, stevia) and a good blender.

Soy milk is the most common and can most easily be found almost anywhere in large chain stores. Honestly, it is closest in taste and color to cow's milk.

Whether it is organic soy milk or not, the disadvantages of soy in general are great. Many people think of a vegetarian and vegan diet as consisting primarily of soy products. Well, that's not the case.

In principle, 80% of the soy available on the market is genetically modified. The probability of coming across these 20% is natural.

In addition, soy intake disturbs the hormonal balance of the human body. It is especially dangerous for women. Soy is a powerful phytoestrogen that is similar to estrogen (found naturally in the human body).

Almond milk has a rather sharp and at times bitter taste of almonds, but it is very useful. So if you don't like almonds, you won't like almond milk either.

The taste of the dish, which is prepared with coconut milk, is much more saturated and pleasant and does not leave a feeling of heaviness, as in fresh milk of animal origin.
