Almost everyone has heard or even tried the famous Tabbouleh salad, which is made from bulgur, or the wonderful Ashtali milk pudding.

However, there are some lesser-known ancient Lebanese recipes that are easy and quick to prepare. That is why we have selected for you 3 lesser known Lebanese dishes that you can prepare at any time:

Salad with tomatoes and bulgur

Necessary products: 3 tomatoes, 1 bunch parsley, 1 bunch green onions, 2 cloves garlic, 4 tbsp bulgur, 2 tbsp lemon juice, 2 - 3 slices lemon, 3 tbsp olive oil, a few fresh mint leaves, salt to taste

Method of preparation: Wash the tomatoes, cut into cubes and pour into a bowl. To them add finely chopped green onions and parsley. The bulgur is boiled with water for 7-8 minutes, drained and added to the salad. Make a dressing of mashed garlic, olive oil, lemon juice and salt, which is poured over the salad and everything is mixed. Garnish with mint leaves and serve. If desired, you can also add diced cheese.

Necessary products: 700 g potatoes, 1 onion, 2 cloves garlic, 500 g peeled tomatoes, 1 tbsp tomato paste, 3 tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp sugar, 300 g canned chickpeas, a few fresh coriander leaves, salt to taste

Method of preparation: Fry the crushed garlic and sliced onion in olive oil and add the finely chopped coriander. Add the chopped potatoes and fry everything until browned. When they are almost ready, add the diced tomatoes, sugar, tomato paste and about 2 tsp water. The dish is stewed until the products are fully cooked, seasoned with salt and chickpeas are added. Leave to stand on low heat for about 3 minutes and serve garnished with a few coriander leaves. If desired, cumin can be added.

Necessary products: 2 tsp white flour, 3 tsp. fine cornmeal, 2 tsp. sugar, 6 tbsp. milk powder, 3 tbsp. turmeric

2 tbsp. anise powder, 1 pinch of anise seeds, 3 tsp. baking powder, 120 ml oil, 2 tsp. water

Method of preparation: The water is boiled with anise seeds for about 5 minutes, filtered and allowed to cool. In a suitable bowl, mix the flour, milk, sugar, cornmeal, baking powder, milk powder, turmeric and anise powder. Stir everything, add the filtered water and oil and stir again. The aim is to obtain a mixture with the consistency of cake batter, which is poured into a greased pan and baked for about 50 minutes in a preheated oven at 160 degrees.
