With the approach of Easter, the forecasting of the amount we will have to spend during the holidays has begun. As we know, the celebration of the Resurrection of Christ for many cannot pass without eating lamb. But how much would this pleasure cost us and where is it most profitable to buy lamb?
This year, a kilo of lamb can reach a considerable amount of BGN 20, an inspection by VsekidenKom shows. As Easter falls in April 2015, the native lambs are still few. The Bulgarian consumer has two options - to go to a retail chain to buy a lamb crumb, obtained under unclear circumstances, or to buy a lamb directly from a farm.
Although there is still time until the great Christian holiday, orders are now being made for whole lambs or only parts of them. At the moment, the breeders set about BGN 8 per kilogram for live weight, but it is not known whether the prices will not jump yet. However, they continue to complain that they cannot win due to low purchase prices.
Recently, the practice of selling food products on sites directly from manufacturers has become increasingly popular. This does not reduce the value of the meat, who knows how much, but at least lamb lovers can rest assured that they will eat fresh crumbs. Here, however, is a small detail.
To be sure that it will delight with a fresh place on Easter, the consumer will have to pay for the product while making the order. Due to the high demand, orders are made now, which means that weeks before the Resurrection of Christ, buyers will have to count about 200 levs for a whole lamb.
If you do not like this option, the sellers in the butchers can immediately delight you with promotions that appeared shortly before the holiday. They involve lamb crumbs at relatively lower prices, which, however, are not particularly fresh, but rather remain frozen for 10-12 months.
