Experts from the Food Control Department will carry out unscheduled inspections at a number of outlets.
Particular attention will be paid to warehouses and production facilities, egg packing centers, catering establishments and food retail stores.
BFSA inspectors will pay special attention to the production and trade of food, the demand for which has increased in the days around Easter - Easter cakes, eggs, egg paints, fruits and vegetables, lettuce, lamb and more.
The inspection will monitor the proper storage of food, shelf life, proper labeling, availability of all documents of origin and food safety, as well as whether they are registered in accordance with the Food Safety System.
Inspectors will monitor the quality of lamb and eggs, which are among the most sought after foods for the Resurrection of Christ. They advise you to buy meat only from specialty stores, where it arrives with all the necessary documents of origin.
When buying eggs, you should pay attention to their expiration date and the presence of a seal that contains the manufacturer's code.
The thematic inspections on the occasion of Easter started on April 1 and will last until April 13. After that, the BFSA inspectors will continue the planned mass inspections in connection with the implementation of Regulation 1169/2011 on the proper labeling of products in the trade network and catering establishments.
