Pastries are an important part of the Easter meal. See our offers coming directly from our southern neighbor Greece.

The first recipe is for a great apple pie

Necessary products: 8 apples, 3 tsp. flour, 1 ½ tsp. sugar, 8 eggs, 2 tbsp. melted butter, 1 baking powder, 1 vanilla, powdered sugar for sprinkling.

Preparation: Mix the flour with baking powder. Separate the yolks from the whites. Beat the yolks with the sugar and vanilla. The proteins break down very well. Mix all products and pour the mixture into a greased pan.

Peel and cut the apples into thin strips and place them on top of the dough so that each piece is dipped into the dough. Bake in a moderate oven for about 30 minutes. Once the cake has cooled, sprinkle it with powdered sugar.

Our next suggestion is for traditional Greek sesame cakes

Required products: 1 tsp. melted butter, 1 ½ tsp. sugar, 3 eggs, ½ tsp. orange juice, 6 tsp. flour, ½ tsp. soda, 2 tsp. baking powder, 7 tbsp. milk. To spread the sweets you need 1 egg, beaten with a little milk and sesame seeds for sprinkling.

Preparation: Mix the melted butter and sugar. Add the eggs one by one and add the orange juice one after the other. Sift the flour with the baking soda and baking powder and add them to the other products. Knead a soft dough.

Make the sweets in the shape you want. However, traditional Greek sweets are made by intertwining two parts and the ends sticking together. Spread a mixture of egg and milk on top and finally sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake in a moderate oven.

Greek sweets type II

Necessary products: 250 g butter, 1 tsp. sugar, 3 egg yolks, 1 vanilla, 1 baking powder, ½ tsp. fresh milk, 4 ½ tsp. flour, grated lemon and orange peel.

Beat the butter with the sugar, add the yolks, vanilla, milk, grated orange and lemon peel. Make a smooth mixture and add the flour with the baking powder. Make the dough, if necessary add more flour.

Once you have finally shaped the dough, let it rest for an hour. Form cakes into different shapes and bake in a moderate oven.
