As a rule, food should be used to maintain our health and body, but of all the TV commercials, posters, newspapers, shop windows and what not, the modern mind has changed so much that it cannot judge when the body really has need food or just the brain pushes it. It turns out that hunger is no longer one of our main motives to eat often. Here are some of the most common reasons why we eat many times more than necessary.

1. Rules

From an early age, our parents teach us that food is not thrown away, so we often eat something, even if we do not feel like eating and even worse - even if it is old and forgotten in the refrigerator. In the end, it turns out that we feed our bodies with things that are unnecessary to us and whose place is actually the trash.

2. Habit

True hunger occurs every three hours and can be saturated with something small, even juice. However, we have a habit of eating according to generally accepted rules - 7 o'clock in the morning breakfast, 12 o'clock at noon and 20 o'clock at dinner. Even if we are not hungry at this time, we eat because of habit and norms, and since we have not eaten for 5-6 hours, and sometimes more, this meal at the right time almost always leads to overeating. Other examples of such eating habits are jam after dinner, popcorn in front of the TV and a glass of wine after work.

3. Emotions

It has been shown that most eating disorders, such as bulimia and anorexia, are formed under the pressure of a certain type of unpleasant emotion for an individual. Such emotions are: despair, love problems, loneliness, irritation, anger, boredom, etc. Almost always when we have a problem and one of these emotions is triggered in us, we reach for food as a kind of relief. However, it will not solve our problems, and very often only makes them worse.

We are almost never so hungry that we can eat two pieces of cake instead of one, or a whole pizza, and not just one piece. It's all a game of our senses and we realize that we need more, and that's far from the truth.

5. For a reward

You come home happy with a job well done and reward yourself with a big hamburger and chips. This is not a real reward, but rather a slow killer.

6. Laziness

Laziness often makes us eat what's left in the fridge just so we don't have to try to do something else. However, there is no tastier and more valuable meal than freshly prepared.
