Long Jack / Eurycoma longifolia Jack / is a plant that grows on the islands and the southeast coast of the Indian Ocean. It is most common in Indonesia and Malaysia.

The plant is also known as Pasak Bumi and Tongkat Ali. The long Jack is an evergreen tree, up to 15 meters high and the leaves up to 40 cm.

The fruits of Long Jack are green, but when ripe, acquire a dark red color. The usable part of the plant is the roots.

In areas where this tree grows, extracts from its roots are considered a natural aphrodisiac and a strong enhancer of male potency. Folk medicine attributes antibacterial properties to Indonesians and Malaysians and recommends it for use in combating the symptoms of malaria.

For several years now, the extracts of Long Jack stubbornly enter the sports supplements and especially those that are designed for bodybuilders.

Composition of the Long Jack

The best known phytochemicals in the composition of the plant are quasin and neo-quasin, cedrin, eurycomanol and glucarubin. The roots are mainly used, but also other parts of the plant containing peptides, which are considered to be the main active ingredients.

Scientists have isolated more than 65 bioactive substances, some of which control blood sugar levels, while others are potent anticancer agents.

Many counterfeits and synthetic substitutes are also sold, so be careful. An interesting fact is that in Malaysia they invented a special electronic language that tries the preparations and distinguishes the fakes.

Benefits of the Long Jack

Long Jack has a confirmed tonic effect. It also acts as a strong aphrodisiac. The plant is believed to help increase testosterone production; improves fertility and fights parasitic infections. It has tonic properties and improves mood.

Long Jack slows down the aging process, regulates cholesterol levels, increases the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and the formation of red blood cells. ATP is a major energy unit in the body that is responsible for increasing vitality and good health.

With an increase in ATP, the overall energy in the body increases. Long Jack provides the necessary energy without hyperstimulation, insomnia and nerve tension.

Daily doses Long Jack

Doses that have been studied for toxicity are in conflict. The recommendations are different and range from no more than 1 mg per day to 10-12 mg / kg. Many studies performed in rats are at doses many times higher than those described above as acceptable.

For greater security, preparations with extracts of Long Jack can be taken on a rotational basis - at 4-10 weeks take a break that is equal to the period of intake.

Damage from Long Jack

Still the effects of Long Jack are poorly studied, so its intake should be done with caution. In Europe, bodybuilders use capsules with herb extract, but although it is a very popular supplement, these capsules have only been tested in laboratories and on mice.

However, the extracts are accepted by a large number of Malaysians, Indonesians and other nationalities as a traditional remedy for libido. It is good Long Jack to be avoided by pregnant and breastfeeding women, as well as by men with enlarged prostate.
