Different types of vegetables and fruits need different times to be canned. What is most important for canning? You need time. Although it sounds easy, if you want to make enough winter food, it will probably take you at least a day.
Another thing you need to do before you start canning any products - look at the recipe to make sure you have bought and have everything you need. This saves you time if you have to go shopping again, and knowing that you have everything you need, you can start the canning operation in peace.
The next important step, no matter what you do - pickles, compotes, jams, etc., you need to wash the fruit well. You also know that you need to choose good and healthy fruits from the market in advance - without brown spots or any injuries.
To make good cans for the winter, you need a little skill - although most recipes have specific proportions, you can add some other smell than those written in the recipe and get a better product than expected.
Once you have done everything necessary, it's time to cook the winter food. There are cans that need to be boiled and those that do not need it. In addition, you should not put everything to boil together - each fruit or vegetable needs a different time for canning.
If you put it all together you risk leaving some half-cooked and others overcooked. You can cook together and combine only those that are cooked for the same length of time. Here are the approximate minutes you need to cook the winter food:
1. If you want to make canned aubergines, keep in mind that you will only need 1 hour and 30 - 40 minutes for cooking. The same time is needed for cooking pepper.
2. Zucchini is a vegetable that does not take much time to soften - about 5 minutes. Tomatoes, strawberries and raspberries need the same time.
3. Green beans and peas take about 60 minutes.
4. Quinces take about half an hour to cook well.
5. About 15 minutes of cooking need prunes, cornflowers, pears and peaches.
6. If you want to make compote of cherries, grapes, cherries or apricots - cook the jars for about 10 minutes.
7. Cook the cucumbers for between 5 and 10 minutes.
