Bananas are among the most widely consumed fruits anywhere in the world. In addition to fresh or added to your favorite dessert, they can also be used in the preparation of various soups, stews and main dishes.

As exotic as the second option sounds, if you choose the right variety of bananas, you can easily replace the potatoes, for example. The reason lies in the fact that they contain a lot of starch, thus thickening the dish.

When choosing bananas for culinary purposes, you should be aware that if you want to make cakes, sweet rolls or other pastries, you can use ordinary bananas, which are sold in all stores. You can find out how sweet they are by their color, and for desserts be sure to avoid green bananas. When preparing savory pots, you should focus on other varieties of bananas designed specifically for this purpose.

Unfortunately in Bulgaria this is a problem, but with good luck, you can come across them. This type of banana is much larger than ordinary and in most cases greenish. They can be used for cooking, baking and frying and are especially common for this purpose in Central and Latin America.

Here is a classic Mexican recipe for dish with bananas Macho and bread, and if you can't find this type of banana, you can also use greener ordinary bananas.

Necessary products: 1 liter of chicken or vegetable broth, 20 slices of baguette bread, 1 pinch of thyme, 1 pinch, saffron, 1 pinch of salt, 1 pinch of cinnamon, 1 pinch of ground cloves, 1 tbsp. sugar, 1 tbsp. hot red pepper, 2 onions, 5 red tomatoes, 4 zucchini, 4 potatoes, 2 banana Macho, 225 g lard, 50 g raw almonds, 50 g raisins

Method of preparation: All the listed spices are added to the prepared broth, and it is good that the saffron is slightly roasted. Zucchini are washed but not peeled, cut into circles and put for about 10 minutes in boiling salted water. In the same way, put the potatoes to turn, but peeled. Separately fry the sliced onion and sliced tomatoes and bananas in the lard, but sequentially, not together. Arrange half of the slices, half of the vegetables and bananas in a greased pan, and sprinkle with some of the raisins and almonds on top. The procedure is repeated and everything is poured with the seasoned broth (put as much as the slices can absorb). The dish is baked in a preheated 200 degree oven until fully cooked.
