Avocado is an appetizing fruit coming from Central America. Nowadays, it is one of the most valued foods of raw foodists. Avocados are rich in easily digestible and delicious fats.

The cellulose and fat in it are actually in the largest quantities compared to all other fruits. In addition, avocados contain a complex of carotenoids, precursors of vitamin A, minerals, vitamins and fiber.

Despite the high levels of fat in the fruit, scientists have found that one avocado a day can reduce levels of bad cholesterol. The practice is applicable even to overweight people. The only condition is to replace the unhealthy fats in your diet with those of avocados.

Scientists from the University of Pennsylvania came to these findings after long observations. They explain that this does not mean that people just have to add one avocado a day to their diet.

For optimal results, everyone should remove unhealthy fats from their diet and replace them with healthy ones from avocados.

45 volunteers aged 21 to 70 took part in the tests. Each age group was given several different diets to reduce bad cholesterol levels. The most successful was the one with a moderate amount of fat and one avocado a day.

The results of the avocado diet were unequivocal - five weeks after administration and the levels of low-density lipoprotein, known as bad cholesterol, decreased by the highest and most noticeable levels.

Some time ago, another plus was found from the inclusion of avocados in the daily menu. The fruit contains significant levels of vitamin E. They, in combination with carotenoids, turn it into a powerful antioxidant. Thus, it prevents the development of prostate cancer.

Another plus of avocado is that it has a low glycemic index. This makes it a perfect food for athletes and people aiming to lose or maintain weight. It is also recommended for people with high levels of insulin in the blood.
