Salt is the main spice of any dish. You may forget to add black pepper or savory, but if you forget the salt, the dish just won't work. The amount of salt you put on each pot is a matter of personal taste.

Most recipes mention salt to taste or a pinch of salt. Of course, not literally - it is meant that salt is actually added to flavor the dish, but in no case should you overdo it, because in excessive amounts it becomes really harmful.

Having already specified how much salt is added to the dishes, we need to know exactly when it is added - at the beginning of the dish or at the end. There is no definite answer to the question, because it is added at different times for different dishes.

For example, if you are preparing fish broth, you must add salt at the very beginning of its preparation. On the other hand, if you are making meat broth, you can only add salt when the broth is completely ready.

Another important detail is that fatter meats should be salted more abundantly. Meats like chicken and pork do not like to be very salty, unlike fish, which take in more salt. If you fry vegetables, salt them just before frying, the same goes for eggs.

When cooking potatoes, add salt after they are ready - just before removing from the heat. The fish, which we have already mentioned that loves salt, is salted for at least 20 minutes before frying.

If you are cooking grilled meat, salt it when you remove it from it. And since it has happened to everyone at least once to oversalt a dish, let's say what can be done if a similar situation has happened to you.

If the dish is soup, you can add to it 1 tsp. milk. Another way to "take away" the salt is to add sliced potatoes to the dish or put a crust of bread.
