Prunes are among the most widely used dried fruits in cooking. They can be added not only to cakes, pies and all kinds of cakes, but also to main dishes. Much of the venison is prepared with prunes, and many housewives add them to beef dishes.
Prunes are also very useful. They have a much higher energy value than fresh and contain many vitamins and other useful substances for the human body.
They are used by people suffering from constipation, digestive disorders and people who want to normalize blood pressure.
Although they are 3-4 times more caloric than fresh plums, they are also used in many diets. It is only important not to eat more than 100 g at a time.
You can buy prunes from many places and see for yourself the benefits of them. However, it is best to prepare them yourself to be sure what you are really consuming.
Unlike plums, which are sold in stores and which, in order to be dried, must first be blanched and then placed in special steam dryers, home-made plums are much easier to prepare.
The ideal option is if you have a place to pick them, but even if you do not have a plum tree in the yard, do not worry, just jump to the nearest market. Plums are not a very expensive fruit and the probability of any chemistry in them is negligible.
When choosing plums to dry, you should choose only fully ripe fruits. If you accidentally get rotten, crushed, green or eaten fruit, throw it away.
Plums are easiest to dry by leaving in the sun. They are placed on a newspaper or other paper and left for about a week to 10 days in sunlight. They should be dried until, when squeezed, the fruit forms a ball that is firm enough.
The dried fruits are inspected again and, if necessary, cleaned of rotten or blackened plums. They are packed in hemp or paper bags in which they are stored for a long time.
If you want to cook prunes faster, you can also use the oven. Arrange the fruit in a pan and put them for 9 hours in an oven preheated to 50 degrees.
Then raise the temperature by 10 degrees and leave them for another 9 hours. Remove the semi-finished prunes and leave them to stand overnight at room temperature, then dry them again for 9 hours, but at 70-80 degrees.
