Mushroom Bride / Amanita caesarea / is a basidiomycete fungus belonging to the genus Amanita and the family Amanita. In our country it is known by various names. The Bulgarian knows it as ovary, bouillon, chenus, royal mushroom and others. The English name of this type of mushroom is Caesar`s mushroom, and the German - Kaiserling. In Russia it is called Caesar's mushroom, in Italy - Ovolo, and in France - Oronge. It is widespread in many parts of the world, especially in Asia, Africa, Europe and North America.

Initially, this species has an ovoid shape, and the hood is covered with a white shell. As the cap grows, however, it tears. The young fungi are distinguished by a hemispherical cap. Over time, it acquires a flat shape, with a diameter and usually reaches fifteen centimeters. The bride is also distinguished by the color of her skin - it is colored yellow or orange and shines. In some cases, its color is reddish.

The stump of sponge bride is yellowish, cylindrical in shape, about ten centimeters high. The flesh and plates of this type of mushroom are also yellow. The spore mass is white.

History of the bride mushroom

The bride is one of those mushrooms who has an old history. This type of mushroom has been known to mankind since the first century. In the middle of the first century, the famous Emperor Claudius loved to eat Amanita caesarea. In fact, his enemies also took advantage of his weakness. They replaced the ruler's favorite mushroom with red fly agarics to poison him.

Thus in 54 the ruler died. However, he was not the only one of the emperors who adored the dishes prepared with the delicious mushroom. She often attended other masters at the table. Therefore, when the Italian scientist first described the species in the eighteenth century, it received the name caesarea, which translates as royal.

While in the red fly agaric these peculiar rags are numerous and small. They look the same and seem to be arranged.

There is also a difference in the color of the Google of the two types. In the bride it is reddish, often mixed with shades of yellow. In the case of the red fly agaric, this part is painted in a deep red color. When distinguishing between Amanita caesarea and Amanita muscaria, it is also important where you will find the fungus. The first grows only in deciduous trees, while its twin can be seen in conifers.

According to some gourmets, the meat of sponge bride has a nutty taste. For these reasons, it has been present in cooking for many centuries. It is consumed fried, baked, breaded, dried and marinated. Flavored with bay leaf, parsley, nutmeg, pepper, tarragon, rosemary, thyme, garlic, marjoram and more.
