A simple plow / Delphinium consolida / is an annual herbaceous plant of the Buttercup family, also known as alton - top, wild bulica, delphinium, blue ralica and others. Ralitsa has a thin branched stem, reaching 50 cm. The leaves of the plant are consecutive, the lower and middle on stalks, the upper sessile, all palmately, repeatedly dichotomously divided.

The flowers of the common ragweed are large, with a blue calyx. Perianth is simple, blue or bluish-violet, petal-shaped, the uppermost leaf with an elongated horizontal spur. The fruit is a swollen pod, cracking at one seam, with numerous dark brown, rough seeds. The common ragweed blooms in the summer months. The flower is widespread in Europe, Russia and others. In Bulgaria it can be seen as a weed in crops and dry grassy places.

History of the common plow

Ralitsa is also the popular name of the constellation Orion. Once upon a time, when Orion appeared in the sky, people knew it was time to plow, to plow. Hence the Bulgarian name of the plant.

Greek legend says that once upon a time in ancient Greece, a talented young man sculpted his beloved, who had died, and breathed life into the sculpted figure. The gods punished him for this audacity by turning him into a dolphin.

The revived girl went to the beach and saw in the waves a dolphin that swam to the shore and laid at the feet of his beloved delicate flowers that radiated azure light. This was the color of the delphinium, of the plow. The Greeks compared the colors of the dolphinium to the head of a dolphin.

In Russia this beautiful flower is called "spur", in Germany - "knight's spurs", in England - "funny spurs". Shakespeare also mentions the plow as Lark's lark.

Composition of ordinary ralitsa

The flowers of the common Ralitsa contain the alkaloids calcatripin and dolphinin, aconitic acid, yellow dye, the glycoside kaempferol, blue pigment of the anthocyanin type and others. The alkaloids delsonin and delcosine, fatty oil and others were found in the seeds.

Growing a common plow

The common plow occurs as a weed in cereals, headlands and abandoned fields. Planted in a suitable place, however, it is also beautiful and useful. The common ragweed is a great flower for making bouquets. Loves moisture, tolerates great cold. This delicate flower begins to bloom in late June and blooms for a month. If you remove the overblown flowers, the ryegrass can bloom again in early autumn.

The plant can withstand frosts down to minus 50 degrees in the presence of snow cover. It can grow in one place for 6-8 years. It is moisture-loving, although it can die when water stagnates. Abundant watering is especially important in the period when the buds are forming. Each bush needs 2-3 buckets of water per week. Mineral and liquid fertilizers during the spring and autumn months also help the growth of the plow.

Flowers also need physical support. The tall stature, heavy inflorescences and fragile stems indicate that the plant needs a support that corresponds to the height of the plant. The tying is done carefully in several stages, at different heights - at 50 cm, 100 cm and at the inflorescence itself, if it is very large - in two places.

The common plow over time it needs to be diluted. Leave 3-4 strong shoots, and the rest are removed to revive the bush and to make the inflorescences larger. Unfortunately, the common plow is prone to certain diseases. They can be caused by climatic conditions, insects or non-compliance with agricultural techniques.

The seeds of the plant cannot retain the properties of the mother plant, such as color and showy flowers. On the other hand, vegetative propagation completely copies the original variety. Rhizome division is allowed both in spring and early autumn.

When the plants reach 3-4 years, the old stems are dug up and divided so that in each separate part there are 1-2 shoots or buds and a few healthy roots. In this way the bush can be divided into a dozen parts. Before planting, dig the soil to a depth of 30-40 cm, adding rotten manure, 50 g of mineral fertilizer, ash and lime and mix everything well.

Collection and storage of common ploughshare

For medical purposes from the common plow the seeds, flowers and aboveground part are used. Stems are harvested from June to August. The above-ground part of the herb is harvested and the flowers are separated. After purification from impurities, the material is dried in suitable rooms or in an oven at a temperature of up to 45 degrees.

The herb is spread in a thin layer so that it can dry quickly. During the waxy maturity of the seeds, the stems are plucked and cut into bundles. They are left to mature on a cement site, then pounded, and the fallen seeds are sifted and dried, stirring occasionally.

Benefits of ordinary ralitsa

The colors of the common plow are used to make a tincture, which is very successful in treating lice and nits. It was used for the first time in the trenches of the First World War and had a very good effect. In addition, the plant can be used in diseases such as asthma and ascites (dropsy).

The juice of the leaves cures bleeding hemorrhoids. Powdery mildew seeds, ground to a powder, are a folk insecticide. They are used to make ointments against scabies. The fatty oil from the seeds can be used in the soap industry. Wool and silk are dyed with the flowers of the plant.

Folk medicine with a simple plow

Bulgarian folk medicine recommends ordinary plow for headaches, irregular and painful menstruation, inflammation and sand in the kidneys and bladder, inflammation of the intestines, shortness of breath, eye diseases, etc. Externally - the seeds, crushed and mixed with lard 1:10, can be used to spread scabies and lice.

One teaspoon of flowers is poured with 0.5 liters of boiling water and left to soak for 1 hour. Take 1 cup of brandy before meals 3 times a day. The common rash also stops the flow of blood to the genital area. Normalizes the libido of people with painful sexuality.

Five grains are boiled in 1 liter of water. Drink 1 cup in the morning and in the afternoon. A warm paw is placed on the abdomen to reduce the prostate.

Our folk medicine offers the following recipe for cleansing the uterus: Chop and mix 50 g of dried parsley, 50 g of wormwood, 35 g of ragweed and 50 g of large chamomile. From the resulting mixture take 3 tablespoons and place in 1 liter of water, then boil for 15 minutes. After straining, the resulting decoction is used for rinsing 2 times a day.

Damage from ordinary ryegrass

The common plow is a poisonous herb. When taken in large quantities, intoxication develops, which is expressed in general weakness and fatigue in mild cases, in seizures, profuse salivation and paralysis of the respiratory and musculoskeletal center (in severe cases).

In the treatment of intoxication, in addition to general poisoning measures and symptomatic agents, the use of anticholinesterase agents, such as nivalin or prostagmin, in combination with atropine, which antagonize the muscle relaxant effect of the herb, is considered.
