It's cold, and we want to eat everything and go out as rarely as possible. Of course, obligations do not allow us to relax so much, but over the past holidays we had the pleasure to rest properly.
And although work and other duties keep our conscience awake, we can at least in some ways try to be more rational (not to mention lazy).
The food, and in general its eating, turns out to be leading for the winter period. This is not something extraordinary or strange, it's even okay. But as soon as we reach home in the heavy snow conditions, we have no particular desire to go shopping and buy products. We can safely undo ourselves in this endeavor by applying a little more common sense.
During the winter we can buy the products in larger quantities and store them. Not that this is who knows how much new information.
Everyone's freezers are full of fatty pork, and the tub is probably already halved, but still full of sauerkraut, and there is a pickle. So far so good, but what to do with leeks? We know that it is a major part of the menu during the winter and is eaten a lot, and it is usually sold in links, which is a serious amount.
It is very easy to store in the refrigerator - you just need to leave it whole, as you bought it, and then tie a bag at the bottom, but loosely. Another way is to put leeks with the roots down in a sandbox and then on the balcony.
If you want to freeze the vegetable, you need to clean it, peel the first layer, remove the beard and wash it. Once drained, start cutting it into slices about an inch thick.
Blanch the pieces briefly - no more than two minutes.
After removing them, you need to put them in cold water for a few minutes to stop the process. The next step is to drain the pieces and arrange them in boxes to put in the freezer for about half an hour.
Then arrange the pieces in plastic bags. Put in the freezer - this way the vegetables can be stored no more than six months. You should not cut the green part for freezing, the so-called leek feathers. They are suitable for quick consumption.
