At the height of the holiday season, not only consumer demand for food products changes, but also the prices of some of them.
For example, at the beginning of August there was a slight increase in seasonal fruits compared to the same period in 2014.
The opposite is observed with the prices of vegetables - there is a reduction, it is clear from data presented by the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets.
It turns out that the prices of melons and watermelons at the beginning of this month were nearly sixteen percent higher than those of the same fruits in August last year. It is also clear that the price of one kilogram of melons is traded for BGN 0.90. Watermelons cost BGN 0.38 per kilogram.
However, Bulgarian producers comment that a large part of the watermelon fruits offered on the markets in the country are actually imported from Turkey and Greece, as our harvest was not yet ready. This is expected to happen in two weeks.
From the data of the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets it is clear that among the fruits the most seriously expensive are peaches. The increase in them is almost fifteen percent.
On the other hand, there is a significant drop in prices for some vegetables. For example, a kilo of Bulgarian tomatoes is traded for BGN 0.60, and a kilo of cucumbers - for 81 stotinki.
Calculations show that tomatoes have fallen in price by a record 45 percent compared to last summer.
From the data of the commission we get valuable information about the cheese. The cheapest cow's cheese is sold in Silistra - for BGN 3.99 per kilogram. In Blagoevgrad, on the other hand, its value is the highest and the price per kilogram of it amounts to BGN 7.84.
As for the yellow cheese, it comes out the saltiest in the capital and Shumen, where the kilogram is traded for thirteen levs. The cheapest yellow cheese is sold in Dobrich for BGN 6.93 per kilogram.
It is clear that sugar is traded at prices between BGN 1.11 and BGN 1.60. The lowest value of the product remains in Dobrich, while the highest is the price of sugar in our sea capital.
The price of eggs is variable, as in Veliko Tarnovo one piece is sold for 15 stotinki, and in Plovdiv and Montana the number is about 20 stotinki.
