Pork is the product that has fallen the most drastically in the last year, according to data from the Center for Agricultural Research. Prices per kilogram fell by an average of 20% over the same period in 2017.

In March and April this year, the average price per carcass weight was BGN 2.86. In May and June there was a slight display between BGN 2.90 and 3.30.

But although there has been a decline in pork in wholesale markets, meat has remained stable in retail markets. A kilo of pork leg was sold for between 7-8 levs, and the shoulder was sold for between 6-7 levs per kilogram.

Experts predict that this level of pork will be maintained throughout 2018. There are no preconditions for a drastic drop in prices, as European markets maintain their values.

For the last year, 71.3 thousand tons of pork were produced in Bulgaria, and for 2018 it is assumed that the production will reach 73 thousand tons.

However, at the expense of cheaper pork, beef has jumped in value over the past 12 months. In Bulgaria, its price per kilogram is 2% higher, reaching BGN 4.90 per carcass weight.

The prices of the chicken place remain unchanged both in our country and in the EU. For the last year the values have remained at an average of BGN 4.08 per kilogram. Estimates of increased production are made only for broiler meat.
