At the end of 2013, the culinary world was shaken and deeply saddened by the news of the death of one of his greatest talents - Charlie Trotter. The great talent of the American chef has made him one of the few great chefs of modern cuisine.
Trotter has been in vogue in modern cuisine for decades, combining flawless products, French techniques and Asian influence in a unique way. With his tireless work, the master in an absolutely convincing way managed to prove that in the United States there is a real gourmet cuisine that can be put on a par with that in Europe.
Trotter was born in a small town in the state of Illinois. He began his headlong culinary rise after graduating from university in 1982. In many subsequent interviews, the chef shared that his interest in cooking comes from an early age. Although he graduated in political science, Trotter always intended to become a chef.
He opened his own restaurant, which was a resounding success. In 1999, he even started making his own TV show, which has a huge rating. In it he shows in detail his cooking techniques.
Trotter also published 14 cookbooks, each of which became a bestseller. Three of the books are dedicated to promoting the use of natural and unprocessed foods. Several of the books are dedicated to the national American cuisine.
The great chef is gaining additional popularity with his position on issues of culinary ethics. In 2002, he completely stopped using goose liver in the dishes he prepared because of the cruelty shown to the animals.
During his lifetime, Trotter opened five restaurants in different parts of the United States. Undoubtedly the most famous of them is the restaurant "Charlie Trotter" in Chicago, which operated in the period 1987-2012. The restaurant has repeatedly ranked in the top 30 of the best restaurants in the world.
Trotter died on November 5, 2013. He was found unconscious in his New York apartment by his son Dylan. The medics who arrived at the scene failed to save him, and the later cause of death was a stroke. However, Trotter's legacy lives on today, and his books are still one of the most widely read contemporary culinary guides.
