British restaurants Skipchen serves its customers food and beverages that are prepared from waste taken from containers near large restaurants and supermarkets.

The Bristol-based restaurant has launched this initiative to draw public attention to the large amounts of food that are thrown away every day in the UK.

According to a report by the House of Lords in the UK, an average of 15 million tonnes of food is thrown away every year. Discarded food is estimated at £ 5 billion over 1 year.

The British restaurant was not created to profit from its owners, but as a protest against food waste, while so many people around the world are starving.

Garbage containers are searched every night by Skipchen employees. And in the morning, the food that has been thrown away turns into breakfast, lunch or dinner for the visitors of the restaurant.

Their menu includes everything from pizza and salads to crabs and shrimp, depending on the day and what was found in the trash.

The employees of the restaurant explain that as soon as they take the food out of the containers, they immediately put it in the refrigerator. The chefs reassure visitors that although the food is found in the trash, care is taken to keep it safe and clean.

Joseph himself, one of the directors of The Real Junk Food Project, is also the manager of the British restaurant in question. In an interview with The Guardian magazine, Joseph noted that the activity of the restaurant is not the law, but he hopes that this will be ignored by the authorities of the Island, as the cause is social in nature.

Finally, instead of paying the bill, as is done in any restaurant, visitors can donate food. There are no limits to the amount of food donated by the British.

Skipchen also announced that they expect food donations from various farmers' organizations, as well as from a chain of restaurants from which they regularly receive chicken meat.
