The arrangement of the table begins with the placement of a suitable tablecloth, regardless of the shape and type of the table. It should be white and well ironed. The middle edge should pass through the middle of the table, and the middle intersection of the edges - in the center of the table.

It is good to choose a tablecloth that is the right size and hangs around a span on all sides. If you want to break the protocol, there are two options. Or replace the white tablecloth with a colored one, but also suitable in the tone and colors of the utensils or napkins.

It is also permissible for a certain holiday to put a tablecloth with elements appropriate to the occasion - Christmas, Easter, children's birthday and more. The other option is to put another, smaller and soft fabric on the white tablecloth, as an accent.

The utensils, plates and cups that you will place on the table must be uniform and well cleaned.

When we move on to the arrangement of utensils on the table, we go back years when the rules were established. We start with the plates. The pads are placed centrally in front of each chair, at a distance of 2 cm from the edge of the table. If you place a bread plate, it stands on the left above the forks or over the spice utensils.

The cutlery itself is placed on both sides of the plate we started with. Spoons and knives on the right and forks on the left. Their arrangement is from outside to inside, according to the order of their use. The most external, for example, are those that will be used first.

The utensils are placed 2 cm from the edge of the table, perpendicularly. They should be parallel to each other, 1 cm from the others and from the edge of the plate. The forks and spoons are placed with the convex part down, and the knives with the blade to the plate.

If there is a cold appetizer before the soup, then the spoon is placed between the two knives. The butter knife is placed facing the center of the bread plate.

The dessert utensils, which will be used last, are arranged parallel to the table, above the plates. The fork is closer to the plate, with the handle on the left, and above it is the spoon or the knife, with the handle on the right. An important point here is that if you have two utensils for the same dessert - a knife and a fork, next to the plate is placed the one intended for the right hand.

Individual spice utensils are placed above the fork for the main course or above the dessert utensils. With the required arrangement, it is not appropriate to place olive trees.

Wine glasses and alcoholic beverages are placed at the tip of the knife for the respective dish. The water ones are placed on the left and just above the red wine glass. Coffee cups with a saucer can be placed on the table, to the right of the knife and spoon. All extras are arranged above the water one.
