Extremely useful and tasty, the octopus needs a lot of patience to be cleaned. In large chain stores, anyone can buy an octopus and cook it at home. There are many recipes - some of them look quite strange for our Balkan taste, others are less exotic, but it is definitely worth trying the taste of octopus, no matter which recipe you choose.

We will offer two recipes - one with easier products, with a more traditional taste (as traditional as the taste of the octopus can be), and the other exotic-different, but also very tasty. You need to be careful when cooking an octopus, because if you overdo it with heat treatment, it can become tough.

Octopus in a casserole

Necessary products:

1 kg octopus, 3 large onions, 3 tomatoes, 1 tsp. red wine, 5-6 cloves garlic, black pepper, olive oil, salt, thyme and basil

Method of preparation:

The first thing we need to do is clean the octopus, wash it and cut it into circles. Cut onions into slices, finely chop the tomatoes and put them in a casserole. Add the octopus, finely chopped garlic and spices. Pour a glass of red wine, close and let the octopus cook on a low heat - for no more than 5 hours.

Octopus with raisins

Necessary products:

1 kg of octopus, 3 onions, ginger, 100 g of dried fruits - raisins and apricots, olive oil, butter, 1 tsp. red wine, cinnamon, black pepper, salt

Method of preparation:

Melt a piece of butter and add the same amount of olive oil in a common dish, fry the pre-sliced onion, then add the raisins, apricots and ginger. Fry the products well, then put the octopus - cut into circles and pre-cleaned. Add the spices and fry for another 6-7 minutes. Then add a glass of red wine, put a lid on the dish in which we cook and stew for a little over an hour.
