The country loves steaks. When the hunting season comes, they prepare dishes from deer, pheasant, partridge and rabbit. The most common side dishes are rice and all kinds of vegetables, as well as apple puree and potatoes in different processing.

In the Netherlands, they are very keen on a strong breakfast, which includes ham, eggs, cheese, butter, bread, fruit, coffee with milk, which locals can drink all day, chocolate or tea. At the expense of breakfast, lunch is lighter - soup, egg or fish dish or sandwiches popular in the country.

The main meal of the day is dinner. They can serve you soup, meat, vegetables, potatoes or salad. Famous specialties in the country are raw herring, smoked eel, as well as a wide variety of cheeses, among which you can find the world-famous Edam and Gouda.

Other specialties you can try are pancakes with sausages, chicken croquettes with ham, spinach stamppot, hutspot - a dish of potatoes, vegetables and meat, which is most often beef.

Due to its colonial past, the country's cuisine has a significant Asian influence. Typical for the Netherlands are the hard, yellow cheeses, which are made from cow's milk, such as Gouda, Maasdamer, Amerlander and others. The typical way for the Netherlands to make cheese is to mix spices in the first stages of production.

The traditional bread for the country is made with yeast and in the past was a luxury food, and was made with milk, in addition to water. In the Netherlands, you can also find a sweet version of bread, in which large lumps of sugar are added when kneading the dough. Since the 1970s, the country has mainly produced wholemeal bread, which is often mixed with additional cheeses.

Wine is not revered in Dutch cuisine, but there are many types of beer and other alcoholic beverages.
