A fine of nearly $ 500 million is being prepared by the European Union for the fast food chain McDonald's if it is proven that they have not paid taxes to Luxembourg since 2009.
The calculations of the Financial Times show that the leader in the fast food industry has paid a tax of 1.49%, and standard levies in Luxembourg are 29.2%.
According to McDonald's investigations, they did not pay the full amount for taxes, not only in Luxembourg, but in many places in Central Europe.
The investigation has been undertaken by the European Commission. McDonald's says it has not used tax benefits and has paid 2.5 billion in taxes to the European Union between 2011 and 2015.
The company plans to develop its menu by offering new and healthier alternatives to its popular burgers, which many studies point to as harmful.
The last of their suggestions is a burger with lettuce leaves instead of bread.
The ingredients are the same, they are just wrapped not in bread, but in lettuce leaves, say the restaurant in Queensland, Australia, which offers a healthy burger. It has the usual meatballs and sauces, but the breads have been replaced with a more useful alternative.
The burger is part of the Create Your Taste campaign, which offers customers to create their own sandwiches, choosing from 31 ingredients.
McDonald's also says it is ready to remove the most unhealthy ingredients from its products and allow customers to determine the composition of their sandwiches.
Burgers ordered under the Create Your Taste campaign will be more expensive than usual and will take at least 10 minutes to prepare.
