The claim that large amounts of salt cause high blood pressure is quite exaggerated. The French study claims that in fact the relationship between salt and blood is much more complex than has been accepted so far.

High blood pressure rarely causes any symptoms - it is the most common chronic disease worldwide. It is also known as hypertension or the silent killer.

In fact, high blood pressure can go away without any symptoms for years and gradually damage the heart, kidneys, blood vessels and more. Many people realize that they are hypertensive only when the condition has caused a serious health problem and go to the doctor for it.

For their study, the researchers surveyed 8,670 French adults. The aim of the study was to find out how a person's quality of life and eating habits affect his blood pressure.

The authors of the study claim that in the process of the study they did not notice that people who suffer from hypertension reach for salt more often than the others who were studied. According to experts, this means that the use of salt affects people differently.

According to the authors of the study, alcohol use, age, sedentary lifestyle and body fat index have a greater relationship with high blood pressure. Consumption of large amounts of vegetables and fruits have the ability to lower blood pressure, experts say.

However, scientists do not claim that salt has anything to do with high blood pressure, but simply explain that the claim is somewhat exaggerated, and the reasons are complex.

Scientists also say that salt should not be completely excluded from a person's menu - it is enough to use it in moderation, like everything else.
