More and more farmers plan to raise mainly sheep and goats under the program of the Organic Products Association.

Currently, there are about 10 organic farms in the country, as the necessary licenses and permits for the opening of such a farm are too many and it is difficult for local producers to obtain them.

The industry confirms that consumer interest in organic food is growing and even most customers agree to pay more, as long as they are sure that they will consume organic food.

According to the data of the specialists in 2013 there is a growth by 32% of the products offered by the sector of eco-agriculture in the country.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food has announced that it will enter the organic producers in Bulgaria in an electronic register.

Through this register, consumers in the country will have the opportunity to make a reference for a product, manufacturer or importer.

The product information will present all current certificates and regulations related to organic farming.

The State Fund for Agriculture also announced the start of the collection of annual declarations for milk quotas. Producers and buyers of cow's milk must submit their declarations from 1 April to 15 May.

The documents must take into account the amount of milk from 2013 and 2014 that has been obtained. The declarations must be submitted at the address registration for individuals and at the address of commercial registration for companies.

Penalties are provided for late producers.

In Bulgaria, the milk quota scheme will be officially implemented from 1 April next year, with the aim of reducing the mismatch between the supply and demand of dairy products on the market and limiting overproduction.
