The newest product that can easily join the list of super foods is the African mango, writes Reuters.

Scientists from the African University in Yaounde, Cameroon, came to these conclusions. For the purposes of the study, 102 elderly people suffering from overweight were studied. The participants in the experiment were divided into two groups - the first was given plenty of African mango, while the second was treated with placebo drugs for weight loss.

Both groups were observed and analyzed for ten consecutive weeks. During this period, the researchers did not change their diets or existing levels of physical activity in any way.

So at the end of the test period, people who ate more of the African fruit achieved remarkable results - on average, they lost about 12 pounds in 70 days compared to the placebo group, in which no significant change in weight was noted.

The ability of this fruit to successfully fight overweight has long been talked about, but for the first time a clinical study is being done to demonstrate the true qualities of the mango.

The fruit is rich in sodium, beta carotene, B vitamins and vitamin E. It contains calcium, iron, potassium, magnesium and copper. Mango does not contain saturated fat and cholesterol. It is sweet, tasty, amazingly sticky and many people around the world love it.

The presence of black spots on the fruit is a sign that the mango is overripe. Green mango is also not yet ready for consumption.

Room temperature is suitable for storing unripe fruit. Ripe fruits are stored in the refrigerator for several days. Eat mangoes fresh, slightly chilled.
