European researchers are working on the development of a sensational food product. Scientists from the continent are straining their minds in search of a formula to create super-spaghetti that protects us from a number of diseases. Their plans are to make them from barley - a plant that, like oats, contains a lot of fiber, but has a far more pleasant taste.
For this purpose, they have already conducted numerous studies and found that their chosen cereal contains specific soluble fiber (beta glucans), which are extremely useful for our body and have a positive effect on health problems such as diabetes, obesity, high cholesterol, cardiovascular problems.
With just one serving of these spaghetti, we will be able to get as much as seventy percent of the beta glucans we need for the day, says researcher Anaa Mria Gomez, quoted by BNT.
In addition, scientists have concluded that due to their composition, the spaghetti they devised will be rich in antioxidants. And almost as much as the green tea, which is popular among lovers of healthy eating.
However, despite their bold plans, European researchers will have to work a little longer until the paste they devise acquires a perfect look. They hope this will happen soon and their product will be on the market.
