The dishes that Hawaiians are proud of are extremely varied and appetizing. They combine the exotic tastes of local products with traditional cuisine brought here by settlers from around the world. Pineapple and passion fruit are especially popular in the Hawaiian Islands and are part of many sweet and savory dishes.

Since the discovery of Hawaii until today, the cuisine of these sunny islands has undergone significant changes as a result of various influences. The Polynesians were the first to leave their mark.

After their arrival, the island states were enriched with 30 plant species, and at the same time began to raise birds and pigs. At that time, one of the most popular dishes was created - poi, prepared from the roots of the tarot plant.

Interestingly, until the seventeenth century and the arrival of the English on the islands, the pineapple was not known here. Due to the favorable climate, it quickly became the most cultivated fruit and a main ingredient in modern Hawaiian cuisine.

Over time, people of different nationalities migrated to the islands and left their mark on local culinary traditions. The national cuisine of Koreans, Filipinos, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese and many others has influenced some of Hawaii's most famous dishes.

The tradition of making kalua dates back a long time. The dish is a roasted little pig, prepared in a special pit dug in the ground called Imu. First, heat the stones, cover them with banana stalks and place the meat on them. Due to the duration of cooking, the dish resembles roasting a piglet on low heat.

Due to the influence of Eastern cuisine, raw fish is often present in the menu of the typical Hawaiian. The most popular options are two: poker and taco. Poke is diced tuna marinated in soy sauce and spices. The dish also has a variant with the addition of rice - it is called a bowl of poke.

This is a variant of the same dish, but with raw octopus. We must not forget spam (a type of meat roll), which is prepared with rice and wrapped in seaweed.

Hawaiians also love loko moko - rice, fried egg and burger meatballs, flights with gravy sauce. Other popular Hawaiian dishes are manapua, dumplings stuffed with pork, and luau, a hors d'oeuvre with meat (usually pork) and vegetable stuffing wrapped in a taro leaf, cooked in a trap dug into the ground until soft.

Pineapple and passion fruit are especially popular in the Hawaiian Islands, which is why they are part of many sweet and savory dishes. The combination of flavors brought by immigrants is in harmony with fresh meat products, which makes the cuisine even more exotic and unique.
