The high nutritional value of seafood is hardly a secret to anyone.

Consumption of products from the kingdom of Neptune, rich in omega-3 fatty acids, improves the mood of depressed women during pregnancy. Conversely, reduced intake of these acids increases the risk of depression in expectant mothers.

This was proved by British scientists from the University of Bristol.

To reach this conclusion, they studied 9960 candidate moms.

And the results of their study were published in the journal Epidemiology. Those who excluded fish from their diet were 50% more at risk of depression in the 32nd week of pregnancy.

However, scientists advise pregnant women not to overdo some types of seafood that are high in mercury.

What else do Omega 3 fatty acids help with?

- reduce blood clotting;

- protect the heart from heart attack;

- dilate blood vessels;

- help reduce blood pressure;

- suppress inflammation;

- help eliminate depression;

- reduce the levels of triglycerides in the blood.
