For a medium-sized pan you need: a kilo and a half of potatoes, half a kilo of mixed minced meat, 2 onions, 3 tomatoes or 3 tablespoons of tomato paste, 1 cup of yogurt, 3 eggs, 4-5 tbsp. flour, oil, 1 tbsp. red pepper, salt, black pepper, savory.
Method of preparation: Pour the oil into a saucepan and simmer the finely chopped onion in it. If using fresh tomatoes, cut half of them into small pieces and fry with onions.
Add the minced meat by pressing with a fork to divide it into pieces when frying. When the water evaporates, sprinkle with red pepper, remove from the heat and add the black pepper and savory.
Peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes. Pour over the minced meat, add salt and mix well. Arrange slices of the remaining tomatoes in the pan and pour the contents of the pot on them. If tomato paste is used, it is mixed with potatoes.
Pour a glass of hot water and place the pan in a preheated oven. The dish is baked for about 1 hour at 200 degrees.
When the potatoes are ready and golden, sprinkle the moussaka with the pre-prepared topping of the mixed milk, eggs and flour.
Return to the oven for about 10 minutes until the topping is golden brown. Serve cut into squares, sprinkled with parsley and garnished with yogurt.
Another traditional Bulgarian dish in the oven are chicken legs or breasts with rice.
Necessary products: 6 legs or 600 grams of chicken breast, 2 and 1/2 teaspoons of rice, 30 ml of oil, warm water, pepper and salt to taste.
Method of preparation The legs are lightly boiled to soften the meat. Fry the rice until glazed and put it to bake in the pan, pouring warm water in a ratio of 1: 3 rice: water.
Bake for about 40 minutes at 200 degrees. When the rice is almost ready, put the chicken legs on top to bake. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and serve.
