The Regional Health Inspectorate found that every second inspected kindergarten feeds its graduates with unhealthy products. More than 2,220 establishments were visited, of which 920 did not comply with the requirements for children's menu, it became clear from the inspection. It was carried out two months after the entry into force of the new standards for children's nutrition in kindergartens.
It turns out that in kindergarten the most consumed are sausages, sausages and dairy products prepared with vegetable fat. Juices with added sugar are mainly given to children to drink.
Desserts are often fruit milks with questionable benefits for children and jams with high sugar content. Fried foods are also present in the diet of children from 3 to 7 years.
Useful products, including fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains are a rarity in the menu of kindergartens. The tasty and healthy fish on the menu turns out to be a real luxury. And according to the requirements, it must be present in the children's plate at least once a week.
We remind you that according to the Ordinance for healthy nutrition of children from 3 to 7 years old, kids should receive at least 300-350 grams of vegetables and fruits per day.
White bread is almost completely banned and replaced with wholemeal, and all pasta must have a minimum amount of fat, salt and sugar. Every day the menu should have at least 350 grams of yogurt or milk without sugar and at least 25-30 grams of cheese.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food requires that the diet of children be composed of foods that meet established standards or those that have equivalent quality.
According to the law for violations of the health requirements, the fines for the first violation are from BGN 100 to BGN 1,500, and for the second - from BGN 500 to 5,000. For legal entities the sanctions reach BGN 5,000, and for repeated violations - up to BGN 12,000..
Insufficient or inaccurate information has been found on the labels about the content of the ingredients in the products: cheese, milk, minced meat, whole grain products, boza, natural juices, jam.
The main reason for non-compliance with state requirements by the management of kindergartens is the lack of money. The most serious situation is in the kindergartens in the districts of Smolyan and Kardzhali.
