The price of bread after the New Year is expected to reach BGN 2, according to producers' forecasts made in front of the Vseki Den newspaper. The reason for the higher values this year is the poor harvest.

Heavy rains throughout the year have devastated much of the plantation and hundreds of thousands of acres of agricultural produce will be left without wheat.

Smaller production will also lead to higher prices, and it is very likely that the subsistence after the New Year will be sold between 1.80 and 2 levs.

Farmers hope that at least part of their losses will be covered by the state fund Agriculture, and the national company has asked producers to describe the damage this year.

A change in the values of bread in the upward direction is also forecast due to the rise in electricity prices next year.

Back in November, bakers announced that they would raise prices, although flour as a commodity became cheaper. However, the real peak is expected after the New Year.

Not only bread will be sold more expensive, but also other bakery products. There will be a rise in prices for muffins, patties and other snacks.

It is assumed that the yellow cheese from the lev will jump to BGN 1.30, and the muffins will be sold for BGN 1.50.

Bakers on the other side are adamant that with the rise in prices, the control over the goods should be strengthened, as according to the latest analyzes, the Bulgarian eats one of the lowest quality bakery products in the European Union.

At the moment, pasta products under 90 stotinki are freely traded on our markets, for which there is no information about what exactly they are made of.

About half of the bread sold in our country is of very low quality due to poor hygiene, unskilled labor, poor quality raw materials and old machines that bake food.

According to flour analyzes, 2 million low-quality breads are consumed daily in our country, which are dropped by the inspectors of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency.
