From today until the beginning of April, 12 kitchens in Plovdiv will distribute a free lunch every day to the unemployed, the socially disadvantaged, single mothers and pensioners in the city. The food is provided by the municipality and over 2000 people will benefit from the free portions.

The Deputy Mayor of Plovdiv Municipality - Georgi Tyutyukov, announced that currently there are 100 vacancies for which you can apply by submitting an application to the mayor's office at the place of residence.

The main criterion for choosing the socially disadvantaged, who will be given a free lunch, is income.

If the person lives alone, the threshold is BGN 250, and if the socially disadvantaged are a family, the income should not exceed BGN 500 in order to be included in the social dining room. The menu includes meat 3 times a week and 2 times lean, and each will be served a quarter of bread.

Minka Trifonova, 75, said that the free lunch, which will be distributed during the winter months by the municipality, is the only food the pensioner relies on.

The pension of 153 leva for the woman from Plovdiv is barely enough for her bills. The unemployed Zhelyazko Atanasov is also among the people who will benefit from the free food. The man admits that he could not find a job and more than once he had to starve.
