Easter is considered the greatest Christian holiday. On it we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is also called the Resurrection of Christ or Easter.
In the week before Easter, preparations for the holiday are underway. It is called Holy Week and is the last of the life of Jesus Christ. On the first day of it, he enters Jerusalem, where he is solemnly greeted with palm branches. The last day of Holy Week ends with his resurrection.
On Thursday or Saturday of this week, the eggs are painted and the Easter cakes are prepared. They are the first element that will be present at the Easter table.
The tradition of painting eggs has existed for thousands of years. This has happened in ancient Egypt, Rome, Persia and China.
The egg is a symbol of the birth of life. When Mary Magdalene, the mother of Jesus, met the emperor in Rome, she presented him with a red egg, symbolizing the blood of Christ.
This is where the tradition of Christians giving each other red-painted Easter eggs as a gift comes from. Today, this idea is broken, as the eggs are painted in all sorts of colors and decorated with all sorts of ornaments.
Traditional Easter dishes, in addition to eggs, are kozunaka, spring green salads, lamb, roast pork or pork, or rabbit recipes. The lamb is the most common, because on the day of the Resurrection a lamb was sacrificed.
Many housewives accept Easter more as a culinary holiday and a personal challenge to themselves. And since its celebration lasts three days, the challenge is even greater, but at times insidious. Therefore, we should always have a few pre-selected recipes for the occasion.
The second most important element after the eggs - Homemade Easter cake
Necessary products: 5 eggs, 1 and 1/2 cup fresh milk, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup melted butter, 1 kg flour, yeast, grated lemon peel or 1/2 cup lemon essence, raisins, 1 egg yolk
Preparation: Warm the milk, then dissolve the yeast in it. Add 1 tsp. sugar and 2 tbsp. flour. Beat the eggs with the remaining sugar. Add the butter and grated lemon zest.
The flour is sifted and a well is made in it. Pour the egg mixture with the yeast into it. Knead the dough, which is spread with butter and left warm - to rise. When it doubles, spread it again with melted butter, in which we have dissolved the vanilla, and divide it into 3-4 balls.
Add the raisins, forming strips, which we weave into a braid and transfer to a round shape, with a hole in the middle. Let the dough rise for the second time. Before putting it in the oven, spread the yolk with the yolk and prick it evenly with a fork.
The oven is turned on at 150 degrees and the Easter cake is immediately placed inside. Once it is ready, leave it in the oven for ten minutes before removing it.
Since the lamb is the main symbol of Easter, we can not miss the delicious recipe for Easter lamb with trifles.
Ingredients: Lamb or kid, about 10-15 kg, 1 kg of rice, 500 g mushrooms, 1 bunch of dock, 3 bunches of green onions, 1 bunch of parsley, 1/2 bunch of devisil (or mint), black pepper, salt to taste, 2 sachets (250 g) butter
Method of preparation: The trifles of the lamb are boiled and cut. The veil (towel) is removed in advance, which will serve to cover the stuffed lamb.
Cut the mushrooms into slices and chop the greens. Melt one packet (125 g) of oil on low heat and fry the mushrooms, greens, rice and spices. Finally, add the chopped trifles, pour a little hot water. After simmering, remove from heat.
We proceed to the preparation of the lamb. We salt it well inside and out, fill it with the prepared mixture, sew it up and put it in a suitable tray. Spread the remaining oil on top and wrap with a veil.
In the pan in which it will be cooked, put a little water, cover the lamb tightly with foil and bake for 30 minutes at high temperature (300 degrees). Then - about 3 hours in a low (50 degrees) oven. The best option for roasting lamb is an oven.
