A huge amount of poaching turbot will be donated to the social kitchens in Burgas. As much as 250 kg of turbot from illegal fishing was received at the Social Patronage in the municipality.

The donation was made yesterday by the Executive Director of NAFA Dr. Dragomir Gospodinov at the Home Social Patronage in Burgas in the presence of the Mayor of Burgas Dimitar Nikolov.

According to the mayor, 400 socially disadvantaged citizens of Burgas will be fed with this amount of Black Sea delicacy fish. Hundreds of tons of turbot were confiscated by inspectors from the Fisheries and Control Sector of NAFA Burgas during an inspection near Ahtopol.

On May 7, at about 5 pm, a border police squad from the Tsarevo Police Department received information from the local coordination center in Sozopol that a fishing boat returning from sailing on the high seas was changing course and deviating to an unidentified port location - the rocky shore of cape Ahtopol.

Along the way, the two border police saw four men throw white plastic bags about 10 meters from the shore from the fishing boat. The boat then headed for the port of Ahtopol.

Arriving at the place, the border guards found that 9 sacks tied with a rope were floating in the bay. The end of the rope was thrown ashore and tied to a large rock. The sacks were full of turbot - a total of over 254 kilograms. As a result of the action, the poachers were detained and pre-trial proceedings for poaching were initiated in the Tsarevo Police Department.

From 15 April to 15 June, flatfish fishing is prohibited.

Yesterday afternoon, the coast guard of our Black Sea border noticed that from the fishing vessel "Atlantic" they started throwing sacks into the sea in the area of Byala, the Ministry of Interior announced.

Later, three members of the fishing boat crew returned to the sea at the site of the discarded sacks, pulled them out of the water and set out to return.

At the same time, the Byala border ship tracked the boat. After noticing the border ship approaching, the fishermen threw the sacks back into the water opposite Obzor beach.

The border police officers checked the fishing boat and the men in it - two from Pomorie and one from Byala. Officials from the Executive Agency for Fisheries and Aquaculture have been notified. With the help of the border police, they took out the discarded bags, in which 120 kilograms of turbot were found.
