On the eve of Easter, one of the main choices before us is the choice of lamb. One of the main problems is that frozen meat is often offered as fresh, which makes our choice extremely difficult.

In order not to get burned when choosing meat, it is good to learn to distinguish frozen from fresh lamb. Most often, the frozen product originates in Australia and New Zealand. No matter what the product is, from the barn to the store it is three times more expensive.

In a farm during the holiday the price per kilogram of lamb increases from 4-5 BGN to 6 BGN. Thus, one lamb can be bought for a price from 120 to 150 BGN. In the store, however, they want between 11-12 BGN and BGN 16-17 - just before Easter. And although this year the prices do not jump drastically, it is logical to bet on the best and freshest meat.

Some of the cuts of frozen lamb were delivered to our country at the beginning of the year. This provokes inspections throughout the chain - from the barn, through the documentation, to storage in the store.

Experts say that the main feature by which we can distinguish frozen from fresh meat is the color. Another sign is the expiration date.

Price is one of the factors that can not help you guess what fresh meat is. Traders take advantage of the moment and sell the frozen at fresh prices. There is another problem - there are Romanian lambs on the market, which are cut and sold as Bulgarian, as they were a little cheaper.

So - be careful, watch the color and monitor the expiration date for the meat. The latter is especially important if you buy large quantities, because shortly after Easter we celebrate St. George's Day - a holiday that again requires lamb on the table.
