U. S. researchers have found after several experiments that apple and lemon juice are guaranteed to freshen your breath if you eat something with garlic.

Green tea, parsley, spinach and mint can also help fight garlic breath.

According to American researchers, one of the ingredients of garlic - allyl methyl sulfide (AMC), can be most effectively removed by apple and lemon juice, because it can not be broken down by digestion, but is released by breath and sweat.

In the study, researchers tested volunteers who had to eat raw garlic, after which the concentration of bad-smelling garlic ingredients in their breath was measured.

The study participants then had to eat a variety of foods that were thought to help fight bad breath.

It turned out that the most effective food is the apple. According to study leader Professor Cheryl Baringer of the University of Ohio, apples help because they remove the unpleasant smell of enzymes in garlic.

Foods that can save you from the smell of garlic are rich in polyphenols, through which they break down the ingredients with a pungent smell in garlic.

Lemon juice also helps with garlic breath due to its strong acidity.

Professor Baringer says you can safely combine the two foods while still eating garlic to make sure they work.

In a previous similar study, it was found that milk can significantly reduce the concentration of chemicals that give garlic its long-lasting scent.

The final results showed that a glass of 200 milliliters of milk can limit the presence of AMC in the breath by 50%.

Whole milk gives better results than skim milk and it is better to drink it during meals and not afterwards.

Foods that can certainly eliminate bad breath are rich in vitamin C and fiber such as carrots, radishes and cabbage. They clean the teeth and stimulate salivation.
