The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) announced that intensified inspections of kitchen units in schools and kindergartens throughout the country continue.
There will be intensified inspections in the children's kitchens of mothers, as well as in the school cafeterias.
The unscheduled inspections started together with the beginning of the new school year. The BFSA announced that a total of 1,443 schools and kindergartens have been inspected so far.
In the course of the inspections 102 violations were found, prescriptions for their elimination were drawn up. In eight of the cases, Acts for establishing administrative violations were drawn up.
According to the BFSA experts, the main gaps that are most often found are related to discrepancies in the equipment of dining rooms and kitchens, as well as gaps in the requirements of Ordinance №9 of 16.09.2011, which regulates specific requirements for food quality and safety.
BFSA inspectors commented that one of the most common violations was systemic omissions in keeping records of food safety management systems and strict diaries for incoming control of packaged food products.
The unscheduled intensified control of school chairs and children's kitchens will continue until October 18, 2013. After this date, the sites will be inspected regularly, on the principle of official control.
