A record number of goods and food products were confiscated from stores in Plovdiv in 2011, the Food Agency in Plovdiv announced.
Discarded foods are over a ton of total weight. As many as 1,111 kg of food products and 46,000 eggs, which the Food Agency in Plovdiv seized, turned out to be unfit for consumption after thorough inspections.
Irregularities with unfit for consumption goods were identified after 12,500 inspections at food production and trade sites. As a result of the inspections, 854 prescriptions and 227 acts were drawn up.
The shocking numbers are the result of the agency's work since its inception in March last year. The control body itself informs the control body itself about the number of confiscated tens of thousands of eggs and tons of food products.
It also became clear that 175,000 samples of goods in the retail chain were taken for monitoring purposes. A total of 9 enterprises are registered and work according to the "Stara Planina" standard for meat products. For cheese, yellow cheese and yoghurt the norm is produced by 4 companies, 6 factories make bread and 2 - lutenitsa.
Since April last year, the Food Agency in Plovdiv has had a hotline 0700 122 99, which has so far submitted over 300 signals and inquiries on the hot topic of the quality of the food we buy. The food control body in the city appeals for greater civic activity in case of established irregularities with food products.
